Shipping Industry Cyber attack – The benefits of using a flexible freight agent

08 August 2017

The recent Cyber attack to hit various multinational companies including Maersk, the world’s biggest shipping line, has had a devastating effect on operations.

3 weeks on from the attack the fall out was still being felt. Port systems, transport planning, container tracking, pricing and documentation were all badly affected. As a client to three lines within the Maersk Group (Maersk / Seago & SAF Marine) we also felt the knock on effect of the carrier’s slow recovery after the attack on their digital systems.

Whilst the attack was rare and the lines services will recover given the vast resources at their disposal, the short-term effect can be a serious blow to supply chains across the globe. This serves as a reminder that there are huge benefits to working with a company like Allseas Global Logistics. Our approach to supply chain is not to put all our eggs in one basket. This allows us to be flexible when required and move our client’s shipments through different lanes. Using our experience and relationships to choose from numerous suppliers to help maintain productive supply chains.

The quick response by our team to this recent attack has helped our clients and partners ensure the seamless flow of their business remains uninterrupted.
